Search for headboard removal in Albuquerque and you will mostly find upholstery shops. If what you want is the thing gone, that is us.

Headboards usually come up when the bed stays and the look changes, or when someone moves into a house with a wall-hung panel left by the last owner. The piece itself is light. The question is how it is held on.

What this covers

  • Headboards bolted to a metal or wood frame
  • Upholstered panels, including tall ones
  • Headboard and footboard pairs
  • Headboards already off the bed and leaning in a garage
  • Wall-hung panels, once we know how they are mounted
  • Wired headboards with built-in lights or outlets: an electrician should disconnect those first
  • Glued-on panels: tell us first, because the wall may be damaged when they come off

What helps us quote it

Most headboards attach to the frame with a few bolts behind the panel. Wall-hung ones usually sit on metal brackets or a wood cleat, which lift off once you know which way they go. Send a photo from the side if you can. We will tell you on the call what we can do with the mount and what is left on the wall.

Questions about headboard removal

Can you remove a headboard and leave the bed frame?

Usually, if the frame stands without it. Some frames have legs tied into the headboard, and removing it would leave the frame unsupported. Our headboard guide explains how to check.

Who fixes the holes in the wall?

That part stays with you. Small screw holes are an easy spackle job, and the guide covers the steps.

Will the city pick up a headboard?

The City of Albuquerque's large item pickup is free for residential customers, and its page lists eligible items (City of Albuquerque). Ask at 505-761-8138 if your piece is not named. Other towns have their own rules.

Can an old headboard be donated?

Often, if it is in good shape. Beds4Kidz says it always needs dressers and also takes bed frames. Habitat ReStore and Goodwill of New Mexico take furniture too, but Goodwill refuses broken, worn or stained pieces. Staff at each place make the final call.

Still on the bed? Call us.

One call gets you a free estimate. If the City pickup would do the job for you, we will say so.
