Mattress removal and disposal in Albuquerque

Twin to California king, on any floor. The crew carries the mattress out of the house, loads it and takes it away.

A new mattress is on the way, or just arrived, and the old one is still on the bed. It weighs more than it looks and it will not fit in the car. Saatva puts a queen at 90 to 160 pounds and a king at 115 to 180, depending on how it is built (Saatva's size chart).

We take it from where it sits. You do not need to drag it to the curb first, and the box spring can go on the same trip.

What this covers

  • Twin, twin XL, full, queen, king and California king
  • Innerspring, foam, latex and hybrid
  • Upstairs, downstairs and rooms at the back of the house
  • The box spring, frame and headboard if they are going too
  • Old mattresses left in a garage, shed or rental between tenants
  • Tell us first if the mattress has bed bugs or is badly soiled, so we can talk through it before the crew arrives

What helps us quote it

The carry is what takes the time, so tell us three things when you call: the size, the floor it is on and whether the stairs turn. Spring and hybrid mattresses should not be folded in half, and a dolly should not be used to roll a mattress down stairs (Casper's moving guide), so a mattress on a turned stair gets walked around the landing by hand.

Questions about mattress removal

How much does mattress removal cost?

We quote after you tell us what is going and where it sits, and the estimate is free. One mattress by the front door costs less than a set on the second floor, so we do not publish a flat price.

Will the City of Albuquerque take my mattress for free?

Often, yes, if you can get it to the curb and your household qualifies. The City's large item pickup is free for residential customers and names mattresses and bed frames, with at least 24 hours' notice before your trash day (City of Albuquerque). It stops at the curb, so you still have to get the mattress there, and the City will not collect contaminated items.

Can you take a mattress with bed bugs?

Call us first and tell us. EPA says most belongings can be treated, so a mattress often does not need to go at all. If it does, EPA says to slash or destroy it so nobody else takes it (EPA bed bug tips), and we will talk through how to handle it before anyone comes out.

Do you take the box spring too?

Yes. It usually goes on the same trip. See box spring removal for the case where the base is going on its own.

Can a store take my old mattress instead?

Many mattress retailers offer haul-away with delivery, and it is worth asking when you buy. It usually depends on the store, the order and the day of delivery, and it helps less when the old mattress is in a different room or the delivery has already happened.

Still on the bed? Call us.

One call gets you a free estimate. If the City pickup would do the job for you, we will say so.
